Opportunity:

6N Cardiac/Tele - PCU (Stepdown)

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every-other-weekend requirement (Saturday/Sunday for both day and night shifts)
• Work in holiday rotation schedule with permanent staff
• Float to any Med/Surg or Telemetry units as needed
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 for PCU acuity patients or 1:5 (possibly 1:6) for Med/Surg/Telemetry acuity
• Must be able to titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrilin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro up to 50 mcg
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitors
• Care for cardiac patients including CR bands, post catheterization, AMI, post-operative lung surgeries, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, and post PCI patients
• Work with higher acuity patients than typical telemetry units - stepdown nursing experience preferred
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Must submit copy of unexpired driver's license (50-mile radius rule applies)
• BSN not required
• No false nails permitted
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Use EPIC charting system
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract

Facility:

This healthcare facility features a 36-bed cardiac and telemetry progressive care unit that provides higher acuity care than typical telemetry units. The facility operates as a Level 2 trauma center with comprehensive cardiac services, respiratory therapy support, and 24/7 charge nurse coverage. The unit utilizes team nursing approaches and maintains monitor technicians while requiring nursing staff to interpret telemetry strips independently.
