Assistant Professor of Management

Loyola University Maryland

Assistant Professor of Management

The Department of Management and Organizations in the Sellinger School of Business and Management at Loyola University Maryland invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Organizational Behavior (OB), beginning in Fall 2027. This is a full-time, in-person appointment based at Loyola's Baltimore campus.

We seek candidates whose teaching and research align with the department's needs in HRM and OB. The primary emphasis for this position is teaching both HRM and OB courses at the undergraduate and MBA levels. The successful candidate will be expected to develop new courses in areas such as Strategic HRM, People Analytics, Human Capital Consulting, and related topics as the department builds its HRM and OB offerings.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in HRM, OB, or I/O Psychology or a closely related discipline, or be near completion, by the time of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of effective teaching in HRM and OB, experience designing and launching new courses, an active program of peer-reviewed research, and the ability to help lead the continued curriculum development over time. The standard teaching load is six courses per year (three per semester) with one course release each of the first two years. Courses are offered in both in-person and online formats and frequently incorporate high-impact and experiential learning practices.

The successful applicant will show evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching, a productive program of scholarly research, and a commitment to service to the department, institution, and discipline.

Please submit the following materials:

  • Cover Letter: Expressing interest in Loyola University Maryland, outlining qualifications, and clearly stating your teaching and research interests related to this position.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Statements of teaching philosophy and research interests.
  • Sample publications or working papers.
  • Reference: Contact information for three professional references. Please note that the department will formally solicit three confidential letters of recommendation and requires valid contact details for each writer.
  • Applications will not be considered without all of this information.

Note: Once application materials are submitted, applicants will no longer be able to access or edit them through the online portal. For full consideration, applications should be received by September 1, 2026. Review of applications will begin in early October and continue until qualified candidates are identified. Applications will be closed on October 15, 2026.

Required Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. or equivalent in human resource management, organizational behavior, industrial-organizational psychology, or a closely related field, conferred no later than May 31, 2027.
  • Demonstrated evidence of, or clear promise of, teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Organizational Behavior (OB).
  • Demonstrated record of, or clear promise of, publishing in high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarly journals to maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status under AACSB and Sellinger guidelines.
  • A commitment to Loyola's Jesuit mission and to teaching that serves the whole person and fosters a culture of inclusion and academic excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Strategic HRM, People Analytics, Human Capital Consulting, selection and retention, performance management, or total rewards.
  • Experience developing or teaching human resource management curriculum, courses, or academic programs.
  • Applied or professional experience and connections in the HR field, including ties to organizations such as SHRM.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching and to working with students and colleagues to reflect Loyola's mission of care for the whole person (cura personalis)

Final compensation offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, job-related experience, internal equity, and alignment with organizational budget.

The Wall Street Journal ranked Loyola No. 19 overall in the nation in its 2026 "Best Colleges" list. Loyola was also ranked No. 51 for impact on graduate salaries and No. 81 in the nation for student experience. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Loyola among the top 10 universities in the North Region for the past decade. Princeton Review named it one of the nation's top institutions for undergraduate higher education and one of the best Mid-Atlantic colleges for 2026. Loyola is one of 75 colleges and universities included on a list of the "new" dream schools in Jeffrey Selingo's book, Dream School, Finding the College That's Right for You. The list of "new" dream schools highlights institutions with strong outcomes, accessible admissions, and dynamic student experiences. Loyola was also listed among the "best value" private colleges in Kiplinger's Personal Finance.
