Environmentalist- Cardiac Step-down

Overview 24‑32 hours per week, Monday‑Friday day shift. Job Summary Disinfects all bedsides and workstations to prevent disease transmission and assists in the general cleanliness and neatness of the unit. Essential Functions Performs extensive disinfection and sanitization of all surfaces. Stocks nurse servers at each bedside or patient room. Ensures the overall environment is safe and clear of debris and clutter. Transports non‑controlled medications from the pharmacy to designated licensed healthcare practitioners or from a tube system to a secured medication storage room. Assists in transporting equipment and other items. Education and Certifications High School Diploma or equivalent (required). CPR certification (preferred). Skills Strong organizational skills. Demonstrates ability to work independently. Physical Requirements Occasionally: climb stairs/ladder, work in cold temperatures, drive motor vehicles (work required), additional testing may be required, exposure to electricity, fumes/gases/vapors, hot temperatures, lift/carry 0‑10 lbs, lift/carry 11‑20 lbs, lift/carry 21‑40 lbs, lift/carry 41‑60 lbs, exposure to loud noises, machinery, power tools, push/pull 0‑25 lbs, push/pull 26‑40 lbs, squat/kneel. Frequently: bend/twist, use computer skills, decision making, flex/extend neck, interpret data, problem solving, reach above shoulder, repetitive hand/arm use, sit, stand, walk. Continuously: audible speech, biohazard waste handling, blood and/or bodily fluids handling, chemicals/medications handling, color vision, communicable diseases and/or pathogens awareness, depth perception, hearing acuity, patient equipment operation, peripheral vision, seeing – far/near. Additional Physical Requirements Must be able to see, hear, stand, walk, speak, read, and perform basic math calculations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide), and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation, and care for oneself with little or no difficulty. Principles of Body Mechanics Applies the principles of body mechanics in lifting or moving patients and/or equipment. Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment.
