All products can be customized to address the specific risks and exposures of the client.Environmental Insurance - Great American Insurance GroupWe are looking for an Underwriter Trainee to join our Exton, PA, Boston, MA, or New York City office. Employees are expected to maintain a meaningful on-site presence to support collaboration, relationship building, and business success.**Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities*** Participates in activities related to risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability per divisional objectives.* Review, summarize, and interpret environmental reports, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase I Site Investigations, and other technical documents.* Works with the underwriting team to learn how to price business, analyze coverage and how to develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external customers.* Learns to assess risk quality and compliance within company guidelines and to initiate appropriate loss prevention actions.* Learns to use independent judgment and initiative to support business goals.* Participates in visiting agents, brokers, and producers with a more senior underwriter and learns to retain existing accounts, build and maintain business relationships, and develop new opportunities in support of divisional objectives.* Learns to interpret, explain, and market products and services.* Learns to apply underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.* Performs other duties as assigned.**Job Requirements*** Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or a related discipline, ideally with an environmental focus.* Generally, 0-2 years of insurance or environmental consulting experience is preferred.* Strong MS Office skills and must be good with technology.* Strong written and verbal communication skills.* The ideal candidate will be a recent science or engineering graduate or an early-career environmental professional.**Business Unit:**Environmental**Salary Range:**$60,000.00 -$75,000.00**Benefits:**We offer competitive benefits packages for full-time and part-time employees\*.
