Cardiac PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cardiac PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role requires a commitment to providing high-quality care for patients with cardiac conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients with myocardial infarction, rule out MI, primary arrhythmias, and other cardiac issues.
• Manage pre/post-operative care for open-heart and vascular surgery patients.
• Administer breathing treatments and manage chest tube set-up and care, including sternal precautions.
• Oversee the administration of blood and blood products, as well as perform cardioversion and defibrillation when necessary.
• Interpret telemetry readings, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
• Monitor and care for patients with chest tubes and those needing specialized heart support such as VAD and TAVR.
• Demonstrate proficiency in IV skills and perform comprehensive assessments of patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cardiac PCU or similar environment.
• Experience with surgical telemetry is required, including a solid understanding of open-heart surgery and vascular care.
• Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Epic experience is a mandatory requirement.
• Ability to float to like units as necessary, with flexibility in scheduling.
• Willingness to work every other weekend.

Patient Care Overview

The Cardiac PCU specializes in the care of patients with complex cardiac conditions. This includes managing care for:

• Patients with coronary artery disease and heart failure
• Post-cath lab patients with or without interventions
• Stroke patients with cardiac involvement

Staffing Details

Staff to patient ratios will typically be 1:4, with potential adjustments during peak hours.

Shift Information

This position will require a night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, from 19:00 to 07:30.
