Commercial Lines Account Manager

You serve as the trusted advisor for our commercial policyholders, helping them navigate risk, select tailored coverage options, and manage their insurance portfolios seamlessly. Key Responsibilities Client Relationship & Service Excellence: Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial clients, delivering proactive, prompt, and high-touch advisory service. Coverage Placement & Policy Management: Prepare comprehensive insurance applications, remarket renewals, evaluate carrier coverage options, and make strategic policy placement decisions tailored to client needs. Underwriting & Risk Analysis: Objectively assess carrier underwriting guidelines to qualify risks and maintain profitability for both the agency and carrier partners. Account Growth & Cross-Selling: Identify coverage gaps and actively present add-on solutions or additional policy coverage to expand existing accounts. Claims Coordination & Advocacy: Act as a client liaison with carrier claims departments to guide policyholders through the claims process efficiently. Workflow & File Management: Maintain precise electronic documentation, review policy docs/endorsements for accuracy, and maintain clean agency management records. Mentorship & Team Leadership: Mentor junior commercial staff, assist with onboarding/training standard operating procedures, and foster consistent team workflows across in-office and remote colleagues. Carrier & Market Engagement: Build strong relationships with carrier representatives, stay active in carrier meetings/webcasts, and stay ahead of evolving commercial lines market trends. Other functions as assigned by leadership Qualifications Licensing: Active Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance License. Experience: Minimum 3+ years of commercial lines account management or servicing experience within an independent agency setting. Collaborative & Adaptive Mindset: Brings a positive, solution-oriented attitude that strengthens team culture and cross-departmental collaboration. Advanced Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex policy terms clearly to clients and decision-makers. Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail when reviewing policies, audit statements, and endorsements. Problem-Solving & Negotiation: Strong advocacy skills when working with underwriters to secure optimal rates and terms for clients.
