Radiology Technologist - Radiology Department

Radiology Technologist | Full Time (0.7 FTE) Position Summary We have openings in CT/Xray! Provide quality care, to include diagnostic imaging, patient care and customer service. It is expected to care for our patients from the moment we get an order to the time they leave the department. Blue Mountain Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital, and the Radiology Department responsibilities are to schedule patients, and perform exams while providing optimal patient care. The department works closely with providers at the Strawberry Wilderness Clinic, other departments within the hospital and Central Oregon Radiology Associates. The position requires the technologist to deliver diagnostic imaging in any modality they are licensed and/or credentialed in. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Performs exams from start to finish. Registers/Checks In Patient Checks authorizations and medical necessity. Confirm order is accurate and has authorization. Lab orders/results available within 30 days for CT and MRI exams with contrast. Call and schedule patients according to department protocol. Enter correct demographics and order into the RIS. Perform exam according to the physician order and department protocol. Notate appropriate documentation Make exam available to Radiologists to be read via PACS Complete exam within the hospital EHR. Maintain Infection Control Clean after every patient Practice good hand hygiene Wipe down high touch surfaces Wear proper PPE On Call May be assigned on call standby shifts as needed by the department Includes week nights and weekends. Meet, Maintain and Exceed Department Competencies Demonstrate Competency per modality via a checklist Demonstrate Competency in IV starts Scheduling Using PACs Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Basic computer skills Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to maneuver patients on table in order to obtain proper images. Able to lift at least 50 lbs. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public whether in person or over the phone. Uses AIDET according to BMHD policy Use of appropriate technical factors such as kVp, mA, time, distance, grids, cassettes, positioning, and collimation. Practices ALARA Appropriate positioning for the exam ordered by physician. Performs Computed Tomography exams with and/or without power contrast injection per physician order. Critical thinking: Seeks resources for direction, when necessary. Performs independent problem solving. Decision-making is logical and deliberate. Performs actions that demonstrate accountability. Exercises safe judgement in decision making. Practices within legal and ethical guidelines. Practices and abides by patient safety standards and policies at all times. Practices and abides by equipment safety standards and policies at all times. Handles confidential information according to HIPAA regulations. Train in other modalities and/or assist with training as requested. Education, Experience & Certification/Licensure Graduate from an approved AMA school of Radiologic Technology Maintain the required amount of CEU’s per certifying body The following are the requirements for each modality the employee is credentialed in. Radiography Minimum 1 year Radiography experience in hospital setting preferred. Certification through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) and Computed Tomography (CT). License from Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) in each modality. Equivalent to standard as described under OAR 337-010-0010 Qualifications of Radiographer in Diagnostic Field. Computed Tomography Minimum 1 year CT experience in hospital setting preferred. Certification through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) and Computed Tomography (CT). License from Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) in each modality. Equivalent to standard as described under OAR 337-010-0011 Qualifications of Computed Tomography Equipment Operators and Merged Technology Equipment Operators’ Licensing. Magnetic Resonance Imaging Minimum 1 year MRI experience in hospital setting preferred. Certification through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent in Magnetic Resonance Imaging. License from Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI). Equivalent to standard as described under OAR 337-010-0013 Qualifications of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist. Mammography Minimum 1 year Mammography experience preferred. Certification through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M). License from Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) in each modality. Equivalent to standard as described under OAR 337-010-0010 Qualifications of Radiographer in Diagnostic Field. Must follow all ACR and MQSA standards for positioning, documenting and quality control.
