Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned accounts receivable inventory, including insurance and patient balances aged 31+ days.
• Review detailed aging reports and prioritize accounts requiring follow-up to maximize reimbursement.
• Audit patient accounts to ensure claims are filed correctly, payments are posted accurately, and patient responsibility balances are appropriate before collection activity.
• Review explanation of benefits (EOBs), zero-pay EOBs, and payer responses to identify payment issues and next steps.
• Research and resolve insurance denials related to medical necessity, coding, coverage, eligibility, and payer guidelines.
• Submit timely appeals using approved templates and follow payer-specific appeal requirements.
• Maintain current knowledge of payer contracts, reimbursement policies, and claim processing requirements.
• Monitor unpaid claims and initiate follow-up based on payer processing timelines and established revenue cycle procedures.
• Submit secondary insurance claims and obtain required documentation to support payment recovery.
• Contact patients regarding outstanding balances, establish payment arrangements, and document collection activity.
• Perform account research and skip tracing when appropriate according to established procedures.
• Review payment arrangements and follow up on delinquent accounts.
• Maintain accurate account notes and ensure all activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Protect patient information by following HIPAA privacy and security standards.
• Collaborate with leadership and compliance teams to support revenue cycle performance and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of healthcare accounts receivable, medical billing, or revenue cycle experience.
• Experience with insurance claim follow-up, denial management, appeals, and payment reconciliation.
• Knowledge of EOB interpretation and payer reimbursement processes.
• Understanding of medical billing terminology, insurance guidelines, and patient collections practices.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle protected health information appropriately.
