About This Role

The Early Head Start Teacher provides high-quality, developmentally appropriate care and education for infants and toddlers (birth to age 3). The teacher creates a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment while implementing curriculum aligned with the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS). The teacher partners with families to support each child’s growth and development and maintains accurate documentation of children’s progress.

What You'll Do

• Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and daily learning experiences.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing classroom environment.
• Complete developmental screenings, assessments, and child observations.
• Build positive relationships with children and families through ongoing communication.
• Maintain child records and documentation in compliance with HSPPS and licensing regulations.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and supervision requirements.
• Participate in home visits, parent conferences, and family engagement activities.
• Attend required trainings, professional development, and staff meetings.
• Work collaboratively with classroom staff, specialists, and program leadership.

Requirements

• Minimum Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with Infant/Toddler endorsement (or willingness to obtain if program allows).
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare or Early Head Start setting.
• Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards and DSS licensing regulations.
• Current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
• SLED/FBI background clearance and Central Registry clearance.
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
