Job Description
LDRP Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced LDRP Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team in the Labor and Delivery unit. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in managing obstetric patients and will be expected to provide high-quality care to mothers and their newborns in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Rotation: Every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Schedule: Rotational shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM

Unit Information

• Number of Labor and Delivery beds: 7
• Number of Postpartum beds: 12
• Number of Surgical beds: 8
• Dedicated C-Section OR: 1
• GYN surgical ORs: 2
• Triaging beds: 3, averaging 17 patients per month
• Annual Births: Approximately 643
• AWHONN staffing ratios: L&D 1:1-2, Postpartum 1:2-3 couplets, 1:3-4 for surgical/medical

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum process.
• Perform triage assessments for incoming patients based on clinical experience.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous drips, including titratable drips such as pitocin and magnesium sulfate.
• Support deliveries and perform APGAR assessments during delivery.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Participate in patient education and support initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction.
• Maintain compliance with AWHONN guidelines and standards of care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in LDRP nursing required.
• Current certifications: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, BLS, and NRP.
• Advanced fetal monitoring certification preferred.
• Ability to scrub in for procedures is preferred.
• Experience with various obstetric conditions such as pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, and postpartum care.
• Ability to read telemetry strips and troubleshoot as necessary; support available for tele patients when applicable.

Additional Information

• Nurse aids, surgical techs, and a unit clerk will be available to support nursing staff.
• Orientation will include two 12-hour shifts on the unit to ensure familiarity with protocols and procedures.
• Floating requirements may include pediatric medical-surgical, NICU, and other areas as needed based on staffing needs.
