Economics Lecturer Pool

Position Overview Mandate : Instructional Faculty – Temporary/Lecturer in the Department of Economics at San José State University. Responsibilities Prepare and teach lower and upper division undergraduate courses and/or graduate courses using modern pedagogical techniques. Assist students outside of class during scheduled office hours and respond to reasonable student requests via email. Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement. Organize all courses within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Deliver all scheduled classes in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, hybrid, etc.) throughout the semester or term. Qualifications Master’s degree in economics (required for lower‑division courses); Ph.D. in economics (required for upper‑division and graduate courses). Degrees in closely related fields may be considered. Knowledge of the subject matter of the assigned course. Evidence of effective instruction and evaluation of adult learners with satisfactory academic achievements. Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural student population. Compensation Compensation and salary range are determined by qualifications and experience. Anticipated monthly salary for full‑time academic year faculty (prorated for part‑time) is as follows: L‑A / Range 2 – $5,507 – $5,959 L‑B / Range 3 – $6,221 – $7,481 L‑C / Range 4 – $6,825 – $9,431 L‑D / Range 5 – $8,593 – $10,347 Reference the Faculty Salary Schedule for additional details.
