Job Description The Maintenance Plumber II is a position in the Facilities Management department that requires demonstrated skill in plumbing, such as having completed a formal apprenticeship. Regardless of specialty, the role may require performing other maintenance tasks as needed, such as minor repairs or assisting with other projects. Schedule Full Time. 40 hours per week. Benefits Highly preferred knowledge of low, medium, and high pressure steam systems. Condensate return systems, steam traps, and steam operated pressure reducing valves. Experience with high pressure industrial firetube steam boilers and hot water boilers. Experience with DA tanks and surge tanks, industrial water softeners, and associated systems including boiler chemicals, DE‑alkalizers, and chemical feed pumps. Knowledge of steam heat exchangers, both shell and tube and plate and frame. Preferred knowledge of boiler HMI and PLC processes. Preferred experience with various types of pumps, including centrifugal, pneumatic, and steam operated. Essential Functions Repairs and maintains plumbing systems and components in the hospital facility. Identifies and troubleshoots plumbing issues and implements appropriate solutions. Ensures all plumbing work is performed in compliance with applicable standards, codes, and requirements. Works independently in accomplishing projects or assigned work. Collaborates with facility managers, maintenance staff, and other team members to improve the operation of facility equipment. Maintains accurate records of all plumbing work performed. Demonstrates competence in performing work on routine to moderately complex systems. Formal training in plumbing, such as having completed an apprenticeship program. Demonstrated ability to perform the skills listed above. Valid driver’s license may be required. Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment by following established safety procedures and protocols. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions. Ability to read and understand plumbing and architectural drawings and plans. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a healthcare setting. Physical Requirements Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with customers requiring clear communication and rapid understanding. Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer, phone, and cable set‑up. Ability to lift, transport, pull, and push equipment of varying weights, including heavy items, while working on hands and knees, bending, and using full range of motion. For roles requiring driving: ability to drive a vehicle, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles. Resistance to bending, lifting, stooping, crawling, laying, sitting, walking, and climbing as required. Use of hand and power tools with proper hearing and eye protection. Exposure to extreme temperatures, noisy or constricted spaces, odors, and smells. Location Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital, Provo, Utah.
