Purchasing Specialist

We are working with a manufacturing client in Wayne County seeking a Purchasing Specialist to support day-to-day supply chain operations. This role is responsible for placing and tracking purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring materials arrive on time to support production demands. Pay Rate: $24-$26/hr

Schedule: M-F 7am-3:30pm

Responsibilities:

• Source and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and availability
• Identify and evaluate new suppliers to improve supply chain efficiency
• Obtain and compare quotes to support cost-effective purchasing decisions
• Create, issue, and manage purchase orders within an ERP system
• Review supplier acknowledgements and maintain accurate data
• Track orders and proactively expedite materials to meet production timelines
• Communicate delivery updates and delays to internal teams
• Resolve order discrepancies with suppliers
• Partner with Quality and Accounting on supplier and invoice issues
• Maintain reporting on order and expedite status

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5+ years in an office, purchasing, or administrative role
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Clear communication skills with vendors and internal teams
• High attention to detail and follow-through

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in manufacturing, supply chain, or production scheduling
• Experience working with ERP systems
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
