Sheet Metal Technician

Job TitleInstalls, repairs and maintains District systems that involve sheet metal and related materials work (e.g., HVAC duct systems, architectural sheet metal products, toilet partitions, metal window mechanisms, lockers).Job DescriptionAbout this job:Installs, repairs and maintains District systems that involve sheet metal and related materials work (e.g., HVAC duct systems, architectural sheet metal products, toilet partitions, metal window mechanisms, lockers).What DPS Offers You:A culture that values equity, accountability, integrity, collaboration and fun with a shared vision that every learner thrives.$30.61-36.74 Click here for more information on compensation for these roles.In addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other total reward offerings such as; time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA retirement.What You'll Do:Communicates and coordinates with staff at work site and with other shop staff.Works with and installs HVAC systems using various materials.Diagnoses repairs; modifies and performs repairs using blueprints; and considering building codes and standards.Prepares and cleans up job site, taking into consideration safety concerns of self and others, and disposes of waste and flammable materials.Reviews works orders, troubleshoots repairs, and modifies HVAC ductwork systems according to existing plan and work order request.Fabricates, repairs, and installs HVAC internal system ductwork, fittings, registers, venting, pipe fittings, architectural sheet metal products, toilet partitions; metal window mechanisms; lockers and storage cabinets.Troubleshoots and repairs work involving repairs with sheet metal related materials.Performs work and cross trains in at least one other trade as an apprentice.Assists with snow removal efforts on a 24 hour on-call basis.Responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Trains and mentors staff.Bids on work requested by schools, and prepares quote.Inspects work of independent contractors, identifies deficiencies, and communicates with project manager about correcting deficiencies according to code and DPS specifications.What You'll Need:High school diploma/GED required.Four (4) years of relevant experience.Must have and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license and meet district insurability standards.Must have the ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL).Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.Denver Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
