Overview What You Will Do As a Service Department Automation Technician, you will be responsible for setting up instrumentation, calibrating instrumentation, start‑ups, and troubleshooting instrumentation, wiring, controls, and modifying PLC/HMI code. Along with VFD and MCC troubleshooting and commissioning. A Typical Day at Prime Controls Service Department Learns site operational processes to understand desired objectives and functions of instrumentation and controls. Reviews plans and schematics. Connects instruments and confirms proper operation. Sets up instrumentation at customer sites. Configures instruments to include calibrations, documentation, schematics, and manufacturers' specifications. Performs basic PLC and HMI programming tasks. Troubleshoot and implement telemetry systems. Performs electrical terminations and testing to assure that wiring and controls are properly installed and performing the correct functions. Verifies and tests all points of the design layout. Troubleshoots problems during start‑up. Repair often involves review and adjustments to programming where necessary. Service Calls, performs work orders during the day as well as "on‑call" periods for after‑hours support. Troubleshoots wiring, equipment, and PLC/HMI code.
