Work Environment\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor within our child and adolescent psychiatry department, you will operate primarily in an outpatient office setting. While remote work is an option, you will maintain close interactions with a team of child psychiatrists, therapists, and support staff, fostering a collaborative approach to patient care. The standard work schedule is from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts to accommodate patient needs.

  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments to evaluate the needs of children and adolescents, utilizing evidence-based practices to inform treatment plans.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that consider each child's developmental stages, family dynamics, and unique challenges.

  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and play therapy to address a wide array of mental health concerns.

  • Facilitate family therapy sessions to empower parents and caregivers in creating a supportive environment at home.

  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss ongoing cases, share insights, and ensure coordinated care among providers.

  • Deliver timely crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, helping to stabilize young patients and connect families to necessary resources.

  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and available community resources to promote informed decision-making.

  • Maintain confidential and accurate documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards via our electronic health record (EHR) system.

  • Engage in continuous professional development by attending training sessions, workshops, and relevant conferences.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your role will specifically focus on children and adolescents experiencing mental health issues. You will work closely with families to understand their experiences and provide tailored support. This environment requires a child-centered, compassionate approach, ensuring each young individual feels safe and heard throughout their therapy journey.

Qualifications\n

  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

  • Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker - R Privilege (LCSW-R), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Psychoanalyst, or Psychologist in the state of New York.

  • A minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience, working directly with children and adolescents in a mental health setting is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of child and adolescent mental health issues, evidence-based treatment modalities, and experience in conducting individual and family therapy.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to establish rapport with children, adolescents, and their families.

  • Proficient with electronic health record (EHR) systems and technology applications to facilitate efficient documentation and communication.
  • \n
Preferred Experience\n

  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team setting, with a focus on integrated care delivery.
