Job Title: Human Resources Business Partner Industry: Healthcare Location: Columbia, TN Assignment Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time Pay: $85,000 - $97,000 per year, depending on experience. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, core business hours. A minimum of one work-from-home day per week, with more available depending on workload. Job Description: Our client is seeking a strategic HR Business Partner to support the largest employee group in the organization, inpatient nursing. This is a consultative, strategy-focused role for someone who enjoys building processes, coaching leaders, and shaping how the workforce is staffed, supported, and retained. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the dedicated HR partner to the CNO and nursing unit leaders, providing guidance on workforce strategy, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness. Evaluate current nursing staffing models and recommend improvements. Audit incentives, pay add-ons, and differentials built up over the years to determine what is still needed, what is equitable, and what should change. Act as the front line for employee relations, triaging concerns and resolving what you can before escalating complex or high-risk matters to a senior Employee Relations Specialist. Train and coach managers on newly revised policies, including how they are interpreted and enforced. Partner closely with an assigned recruiter, previewing upcoming hiring needs, aligning on what is realistic in the market, and coaching hiring leaders as needed. Identify trends in employee concerns and recommend proactive solutions. Support onboarding, engagement, and retention efforts within nursing. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and healthcare regulatory requirements. Work with HRIS, Total Rewards, and Talent Acquisition teams to deliver seamless HR services. Maintain accurate documentation and records in HR systems. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Significant relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree. 5 years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations, leadership coaching, workforce planning, and partnering with operational leaders. Healthcare experience is required, ideally in an acute care hospital, behavioral health hospital, or other inpatient setting, with familiarity supporting nursing populations. Strong HR background with a passion for developing and improving processes. Ability to be strategic, not just transactional, and to influence leaders without direct authority. Sound judgment and discretion with sensitive matters. Strong communication, relationship-building, and consultative skills. Knowledge of employment law and HR best practices. HR certification is preferred. Experience with HRIS implementations or an EHR rollout is a plus. Additional Details: This is an in-person role with at least one remote day per week.
