The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is staffed by a multidisciplinary care team that includes board-certified neonatologists (pediatricians specializing in the care of premature and sick newborns); certified pediatric physician assistants; and neonatal nurses. \n Job Summary \n Under the general direction of Nursing Leadership and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, and policies and procedures of the hospital. This position develops a plan of care for complex, multi-varianced population of patients, which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family. \n Qualifications\n \n Education \n · Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. \n · Associate’s degree in Nursing. \n · Successful completion of nurse residency, if applicable. \n Experience \n · One year of experience with a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical experience as a licensed registered nurse. \n Licensure, Certification, Registration \n · Registered Nurse, State of CT \n · Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) \n · Additional certifications may be required in specific specialties \n Language Skills \n Must be able to effectively communicate information in English. \n Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements \n · Applies the principles and practices of nursing. \n · Membership in a professional nursing organization preferred. \n · Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate patient care. \n · Cares for a full patient assignment with expanding scope of responsibilities over time. \n · Knowledge of high reliability. \n · Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Uses communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and facilitate positive patient outcomes and experience. \n · Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers. \n · Strong knowledge of and demonstrated skills in providing care for age specific populations. \n · Strong ability to work as part of a collaborative team. \n · Ability to act as a preceptor and charge nurse as needed. \n · Self-directed in clinical responsibilities. \n · Ability to manage and organize multiple clinical priorities. \n · Strong computer skills and use of industry applications/programs.
