Infectious Disease - Physician

The Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Division of Infectious Diseases is accepting applications for full-time physicians in Infectious Diseases, starting July 2027. The ideal candidate(s) would be a physician with excellent communication skills, experience working within multidisciplinary teams, and a commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care.

The position includes consultative care on a General Infectious Diseases inpatient service that includes Advanced Practice Professionals and ID fellows. This position allows engagement in educational activities for all levels of learners and opportunities to participate in clinical or translational research programs. Depending on interest and training, there are additional options to attend on a dedicated musculoskeletal infections service, an HIV inpatient service, a transplant ID service, an inpatient telemedicine consult service for rural healthcare facilities and to participate in antimicrobial stewardship activities.

VUMC is the largest comprehensive research, teaching, and patient care health system in the Mid-South. The VUMC research enterprise is ranked in the top 10 nationally, with robust programs in quality improvement, bioinformatics, and personalized medicine. The successful applicant will be joining a vibrant division which includes more than 60 full-time faculty and 14 Infectious Diseases fellows, with support from dedicated Infectious Diseases pharmacists. Qualifications:

• MD, DO, or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Infectious Diseases.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical care and a commitment to patient-centered practice.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to education and supervision of trainees.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in academic medicine, including teaching and mentoring.
• Interest or experience in clinical research, quality improvement, or program development in musculoskeletal infections.
• Track record of scholarly activity (peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or grant involvement).
• Experience working within multidisciplinary orthopedic infection programs or similar collaborative care models.
  
• Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Infectious Diseases, eligible for Tennessee medical licensure, and have completed an ACGME-accredited residency in the United States.
