Job Title: Clinical Nurse Manager Profession: Nursing Specialty: Nursing Administration Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours (6:45am - 3:00pm) Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: NY state RN License Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - Graduate of an accredited RN program - Bachelor’s degree in Nursing - Acute or Long Term Experience - Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently - Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by regulatory agencies - Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the Center, including a medical and physical examination - Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds - Perform tasks that may involve exposure to resident blood/body fluids - Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary Description: The Clinical Nurse Manager will coordinate the delivery of resident care. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the recommendation, development, and implementation of policies and procedures. As the leader of the team, the Nurse Manager maintains the operational aspect of the assigned unit in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. This role involves striving to improve systems and processes continuously. The Nurse Manager will treat every resident, family member, and co-worker with dignity, respect, and courtesy. They will support a clinical practice environment where nursing staff provides exceptional care for residents. The Nurse Manager creates and supports an environment of staff engagement and involvement. They establish relationships with residents, their families, and guardians while demonstrating excellent communication skills. The Nurse Manager ensures ongoing education of residents and their families and encourages family participation in resident care. Staff schedules must be consistent with residents' needs, ensuring accountability for established standards of care. Regular staff meetings are conducted to ensure information is disseminated to all appropriate parties. The Nurse Manager participates in creating policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. They ensure all team members are knowledgeable in these areas. Maintaining standards of care involves overseeing compliance with the care planning process and other facility policies. Adhering to infection control standards and safety protocols is essential. The Nurse Manager establishes and maintains a systematic process for ensuring all nursing staff documentation is completed per facility policy and procedure. They actively seek resolution to situations that arise on the unit and complete incident reporting and Root Cause analysis per facility procedures. Collaboration with the team ensures timely completion of documentation for the nursing process. All documentation must be objective, meet regulatory requirements, and be consistent with facility policy and procedure. The Nurse Manager assesses resources needed to manage and uphold standards of care effectively. They seek necessary resources, including supplies, equipment, maintenance, and environmental services support. Demonstrating knowledge of the progressive disciplinary process is required for both bargaining unit and non-bargaining unit employees. Utilizing the progressive disciplinary process ensures that staff receives feedback regarding performance, with improvement being identified and monitored in a timely manner. Understanding policies that monitor resident care issues and family complaints is crucial. Regular communication with the Director of Nursing ensures problems are solved, and opportunities for improvement are identified. Collaboration with off-shift and administrative personnel assures consistency of practice across all shifts. The Nurse Manager works with Nursing Education to identify areas of need and provide in-service training and education to staff based on resident and family needs.
