ACCOUNTANT - GENERAL LEDGER SPECIALIST
Automation Personnel Services is looking for an  Accountant - General Ledger Specialist for a company based in Bartlett, TN. In this role,   The  Accountant / General Ledger Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and performing daily accounting functions for an industrial sales and distribution environment. This position has a strong emphasis on  general ledger entry, journal entries, account reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, and month-end closing activities . The  Accountant ensures financial transactions are accurately recorded, properly classified, and supported by appropriate documentation.

Pay Rate
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour(depending on experience)

Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. (3 days a week – to discuss in interview)

Accountant - General Ledger Specialist   Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare, enter, review, and post  general ledger journal entries accurately and timely.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are posted to the appropriate accounts, departments, and cost centers.
• Perform monthly  bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations .
• Research and correct account discrepancies, posting errors, and unusual transactions.
• Assist with  month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions for accuracy.
• Record accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, adjustments, and other accounting entries.
• Maintain supporting documentation for journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist with preparation of balance sheets, income statements, account schedules, and other financial reports.
• Track expenses and ensure transactions are properly classified within the accounting system.
• Verify invoices, purchase orders, payments, receipts, and other financial documentation.
• Assist with inventory-related accounting, including reviewing inventory adjustments and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintain organized and audit-ready accounting records.
• Assist management with financial reporting, account analysis, and special accounting projects.
• Support internal and external audits by providing requested financial records and documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality of company and financial information.
• Follow established accounting procedures, internal controls, and company policies.

Accountant - General Ledger Specialist   Qualifications  and Requirements

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Previous accounting, bookkeeping, or general ledger experience.
• Strong knowledge of  debits, credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation .
• Experience with accounting or ERP software preferred.
• Proficiency in  Microsoft Excel , including spreadsheets, formulas, sorting, filtering, and data analysis.
• Strong data-entry and numerical accuracy.
• Ability to identify discrepancies and research accounting issues.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to meet month-end and reporting deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with confidential financial information.
