Specialties and Locations Free-Standing Emergency Departments (New Braunfels, Converse and Nacogdoches) Ortho/Neuro Unit Job Summary The Methodist Healthcare Residency Program at Methodist Hospital Northeast is a paid, year-long program that prepares a Graduate Nurse for transition into a registered nurse role. It includes advanced clinical training in a specialty area, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training, simulation-based skills evaluation, mentoring, and participation in an evidence-based practice project. Responsibilities Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting any changes. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers; document care in the medical record timely and thoroughly. Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic response, notify provider and intervene if adverse reaction. Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and anticipating patient needs. Teach patients, families, and caregivers about condition, treatment plan, medications, side effects, and follow-up; translate complex terminology for understanding. Coordinate and deliver patient‑centered care consistent with state and specialty scope and standards. Qualifications Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment. Additional certifications may be required during employment. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse Permit in Texas. No previous healthcare experience required.
