Patient Care Assistant

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant will assist
in patient monitoring, patient care, clerical, coordination, and receptionist duties.
Direct patient care is done under the direction of the RN and within the scope of
sound professional nursing practice to be delegated. They will also perform
other assigned duties for which they have been specifically trained.

Qualifications:
A. Education and Certification:
1. High school graduate or equivalent required upon hire.
2. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within ninety (90) days of hire

B. Training and Experience:
1. Must successfully complete computer training.
2. Must be able to successfully pass a basic arrhythmia test with a score of 80% or better, prior to employment.
3. Knowledge of some medical and technical terminology and hospital policies and procedures.

Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
A. Ability to perform:
1. Heavy lifting.
2. Sustained walking, standing and sitting.
3. Ability to work under stress.
4. Varied working hours and shifts.
B. Exposure to infectious disease
