Job Summary: Provide essential clinical support in the operating room, assisting anesthesia providers, surgeons, and team members with procedural tasks to ensure smooth surgical operations. Maintain high standards of instrument processing and sterile technique in accordance with industry guidelines.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and handling of surgical instruments and supplies, adhering to established cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization protocols.
• Prioritize tasks effectively, adapting to fluctuating activity levels within the department.
• Support nursing staff by obtaining specialized supplies promptly to maintain quality patient care.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to update preference cards and instrument sets as technology and procedures evolve.
• Promote teamwork by accepting and delegating tasks appropriately.
• Maintain a professional, quiet environment to enhance patient and staff experience.
• Ensure patient safety by verifying sterile fields, adhering to HIPAA regulations, and reporting any breaches in protocol.

Education and Certification

• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or a valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with registration as a Registered Nurse.

Experience and Professional Development

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of anatomy, surgical instruments, and equipment.
• Serve as a resource and mentor for peers, students, and new staff members.
• Engage in ongoing learning opportunities and participate in departmental goal setting and in-service training.

Customer Service and Teamwork

• Build strong relationships with physicians, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Practice AIDET communication techniques to enhance patient and visitor interactions.
• Demonstrate flexibility with assignments and shifts to support department needs.
