Construction Controller

Our client is a well-established and growing concrete construction company and is seeking an experienced Construction Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This highly visible leadership role will partner directly with ownership and senior management to support continued growth, operational excellence, and financial performance across a diverse portfolio of construction projects. Our client is a respected contractor specializing in commercial, multifamily, industrial, and residential concrete construction. With decades of industry experience and a strong reputation for quality, safety, and execution, the company has become a trusted partner on complex projects throughout the United States. This opportunity is ideal for a construction accounting professional who enjoys being hands‑on , taking ownership of the financial function, and serving as a strategic business partner within a growing organization. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the company’s full accounting cycle, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting Oversee all construction accounting functions, including job costing, project financial tracking, contract management, and Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) reporting Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including variance analysis and reporting for ownership Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and working capital to support ongoing operations and growth initiatives Develop and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and profitability reporting across multiple active construction projects Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger functions Partner with operations and project management teams to monitor project performance, labor productivity, and cost controls Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, internal controls, and construction industry best practices Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, insurance reporting, and bonding requirements Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting systems, and financial controls to support scalability Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations to ownership and executive leadership Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities within the construction industry Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, percentage‑of‑completion accounting, and WIP reporting Experience managing accounting operations for commercial, multifamily, industrial, or concrete construction projects Advanced proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis Experience working with bonding, insurance reporting, and lender relationships is highly preferred Ability to work collaboratively with ownership, operations, and project management teams Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus What Makes This Opportunity Unique Direct partnership with ownership and executive leadership Opportunity to influence financial strategy and operational decision‑making Join a company with a long‑standing reputation for quality, performance, and customer service Exposure to large‑scale commercial, multifamily, industrial, and residential construction projects Be part of a growing organization that values accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Opportunity to build and enhance financial processes that support long‑term growth The company offers a competitive compensation package including a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and long‑term growth opportunities.
