FP&A Intern

The FP&A Intern supports the Financial Planning & Analysis team with the recurring forecasting, reporting, and analysis work that keeps leadership informed on how the business is performing. This role is designed to give hands-on exposure to corporate finance, including operating expense and SG&A tracking, variance analysis, dashboard development, and cross-functional work with various departments. The intern will work directly with FP&A team members and own defined pieces of recurring work.

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned at management's discretion.

• Assist with monthly reporting materials, forecast updates, and annual budget preparation for operating expense, SG&A, and capital.
• Support variance and flux analysis by comparing actuals to budget, forecast, and prior period, and help draft driver explanations.
• Build and enhance dashboards, KPIs, and analytical tools in Excel and Power BI to track financial and operational performance.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Accounting, Procurement, Sales, and Logistics to gather data, validate assumptions, and understand business drivers.
• Assist with capital project tracking, including spend reporting and basic ROI or payback analysis.
• Maintain data integrity across financial models, reporting tools, and source systems, and document processes to improve accuracy and automation.
• Provide analytical support for month-end close, scenario modeling, special projects, and ad hoc requests from the FP&A team.

• Actively pursuing a Masters degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Foundational understanding of financial statements, with an emphasis on the income statement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and basic data analysis.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain results clearly and concisely.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools preferred.

Physical Demands: This position is primarily office-based and requires the ability to perform work while seated for extended periods. The role involves frequent use of a computer, including prolonged viewing of a monitor and continuous typing on a keyboard. Occasional walking within the office and light handling of documents or office supplies (under 15 lbs) may be required. The employee must have adequate visual acuity for reading and data entry and the ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person interactions. Employees must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) for their work areas.

Work Environment: Work environment is in an office setting. Noise level varies from low to moderate levels.

Normal Work Schedule: Part-Time, approximately 20 hours per week; flexible schedule within Monday–Friday business hours. Occasional changes in schedule may be required as special circumstances arise.
