Senior Webflow Developer

Role Description

As a Senior Webflow Developer, you’ll collaborate with our Design Leads, Creative Director, and broader team to turn ambitious concepts into polished, performant Webflow sites. You’ll bring the technical depth to help us push beyond standard Webflow builds while preserving the intent and craft of the original design.

Webflow Development:

• Lead Webflow builds from scoping through launch.
• Translate Figma designs into responsive, production-ready websites with a high degree of visual fidelity.
• Work closely with designers to preserve the intent of each concept across screen sizes, browsers, and technical constraints.
• Find thoughtful solutions when a literal translation isn’t possible, maintaining the spirit of the design.

QA & Debugging:

• Develop and execute QA processes for both your builds and the builds of other freelancers.
• Ensure staging sites are fully functional, responsive, and performant when sent to the client.

Interactions & Animation:

• Build custom components, interactions, transitions, and animations that enhance usability and performance.

Technical Implementation:

• Use custom CSS, JavaScript, third-party tools, APIs, and integrations when Webflow’s native capabilities aren’t enough.
• Make sound decisions around accessibility, SEO, performance, browser compatibility, and maintainability.

Technical Leadership:

• Review work from freelance developers and establish development best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and ensure everything presented to clients meets the Bunsen quality bar.
• Stay up to date with the latest web technologies and industry trends, making recommendations for Bunsen's advancement.

Client Collaboration:

• Work directly with clients and stakeholders, providing technical guidance and proactive solutions throughout a project.
• Lead build handoffs and create walkthroughs for clients to manage their websites autonomously.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of front-end development experience with a portfolio of polished, live websites.
• Experience building highly interactive or animation-heavy Webflow sites.
• Experience with GSAP, Rive, Lottie, custom JavaScript, WebGL, Three.js, or other advanced web animation workflows.
• Experience developing reusable Webflow systems, components, and scalable CMS architectures.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs, analytics platforms, marketing tools, or custom applications into Webflow.
• Experience providing technical direction or reviewing work from other developers.
• Experience working with teams in Figma.
• Experience with SEO optimization and web accessibility best practices.

Opportunity

• Time: Looking to build a long-term relationship for ongoing contract work. Initial projects are typically 3–4 weeks at approximately 35 hours per week.
• Growth: After successfully delivering two to three projects together, there may be an opportunity for the role to transition into a full-time position.
• Location: Remote-first with approximately five hours of overlap with Eastern Time. Meetings typically take place between 12–5 p.m. ET.
• Compensation: Fixed project fees for clearly defined engagements and hourly rates for less-defined or one-off development work.
