Posting Closes: August 23, 2026 Starting Salary: $48,443.77 annually, $931.61 weekly General Description The position entails managing School Crossing Guard Supervisors and School Crossing Guards. The role includes performing traffic safety duties of standard complexity and overseeing the training of both new and existing school safety officers. Additionally, the position is responsible for coordinating various administrative processes within a District/Section, functioning in a specialized technical or operational role. Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years of supervisory experience. Must be Certified as a Crossing Guard Trainer by the Florida Department of Transportation within six (6) months of employment. Must have knowledge of Microsoft and Excel. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license. A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements. May be required to successfully complete and pass required skills testing. Selection Process The selection process will include a review of each qualified applicant’s education and experience and a formal interview in accordance with VSO policies and procedures. Background Screening This position will require an extensive background investigation. Essential Functions Coordinates and implements new initiatives, safety campaigns, and special projects aligned under the Youth Services Section. Functions as an executive aide in a complex activity. May supervise or coordinate administrative and/or clerical activities within a District/Section. Conducts necessary correspondence and studies. Analyzes and resolves problems dealing with projects in a District/Section. Coordinates methods and procedures, improvements, and programs to foster greater productivity. Evaluates programs for compliance with priority schedules and accomplishment of work programs. Implements programs with a minimum of supervision. Develops and installs systems, forms, and procedures. Represents the District/Section in researching special projects. Compiles reports regarding area of assignment. May serve as program or project manager wherein the program’s success relies on the incumbent. Attends work on a regular and consistent basis. Must adhere to Federal, State, County, and local ordinances. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs. Must be able to remain available to work when a public emergency or disaster occurs. Skills and Abilities Able to initiate and install administrative programs and procedures and to evaluate their effectiveness. Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Able to establish effective working relationships. Able to interact effectively with others. Required Knowledge VSO General Orders and procedures. Knowledge of the principles of management and their application to the administration of governmental affairs. Knowledge of area assignment, including trends, and concerns. Knowledge of research and report writing techniques. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures. Physical Requirements Sedentary work Able to lift up to 35 pounds. Able to operate a vehicle to visit multiple locations/district offices. See at normal range or with reasonable accommodation. Hear at normal range or with reasonable accommodation.Ability to see, talk and finger dexterity for data entry. Able to stand, bend, squat, reach, and grasp. Walk at a moderate/fast pace. Stand for approximately 2 hours. Ambulate independently. Stand for long periods of time. Step up/down to 4-5 inch street curb. Hold a sign with extended arm. Recognize colors.
