Head of Medical Affairs - req1704 OVERVIEW Join us in transforming clinical care through innovative imaging solutions. As the Head of Medical Affairs, you will lead a dynamic team of clinical and technical experts dedicated to bridging cutting‑edge technologies with the clinical environment. You will oversee the strategy and execution of clinical evidence generation through impactful research and evaluation initiatives. Build meaningful relationships with key clinical customers and partners, ensuring our clinical evaluation plans and product messaging strategies serve patient needs effectively. Represent Canon Medical as a leading clinical and technical authority, communicating product insights to stakeholders, partners, collaborators, and external experts. Collaborate seamlessly across various teams including R&D, global and local business units, marketing solutions, regulatory, applications, and service. RESPONSIBILITIES Drive clinical research and validation strategy for the product line, leading a team to achieve objectives including hypothesis-driven research at leading institutions. Provide evidence-based guidance on scientific and clinical requirements for new products and features, ensuring alignment with market needs. Analyze and relay product specification requirements based on insights from luminaries and market research teams. Craft and communicate clinical product messaging while supporting the Solutions Marketing team in developing compelling go-to-market narratives. Act as a spokesperson for Canon at educational and scientific industry events, sharing knowledge about our product line technology. Support regulatory activities by overseeing image quality assessments with external medical experts and contributing to study/test-plan design; influence regulatory strategy through scientific and clinical consultation. Collaborate with the Strategic Development team to assess product claims and specifications, providing evaluation results to the global business team. Develop and implement clinical evaluation strategies for emerging products, sharing validation outcomes and scientific benefits with stakeholders for collateral development. Assist Solutions Marketing in developing scientific and clinical collateral, reviewing for accuracy, and ensuring compliance with clinical claims and specifications. Support education teams in crafting training materials by providing clinical and technical expertise. Engage in Medical Advisory Board (MAB) activities focused on the product line and review research grant proposals across all product lines. Work with Clinical Collaborations database administrators to keep research activities on track and well-documented. Contribute to business unit and Medical Affairs meetings, providing insightful clinical and technical expertise to guide decision-making. Enhance the knowledge base of Market Development, Solutions Marketing, and Applications teams through clinical, technical, and product education. Partner with healthcare economics professionals to illustrate the economic benefits of clinical research programs for marketing and sales initiatives. Communicate known clinical or technical product issues and collaborate with relevant teams to swiftly implement market-accepted solutions. Represent Canon in industry organizations such as MITA, IEC, AAPM, RSNA, ISMRM, ACR, ABR, QIBA. QUALIFICATIONS Exceptional communication skills, capable of credible interactions with prominent academicians as well as scientific writing and presentation expertise. Proven ability to thrive in a matrix organizational structure. In-depth clinical and technical knowledge of CT, MR, X-ray, Ultrasound, or Vascular systems. Proficient in a Windows-based software environment. Experience managing diverse teams of individuals with varying skills and expertise is preferred. PhD preferred; qualifications in medical imaging physics, engineering, or clinical sciences. 10 years of experience as a Medical Physicist, Scientist, or MD in a clinical research setting, or 3 years plus 7 years in the healthcare industry as imaging scientist or research manager.
