Maintenance Technician

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Technician works primarily on mechanical and electrical systems, including hydraulic and extrusion machinery, tapering equipment, conveyor lines, powder coat machinery, presses, shears, cranes, welders, mechanical clutches, drive trains, and CNC Haas machines. The position requires strong diagnostic skills, the ability to read and interpret technical documentation, and the capability to work safely with electrical systems from 24V DC up to 480V 3-phase AC. The technician also supports the installation of new machinery and may assist with facilities and grounds maintenance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs on hydraulic machines, extrusion machines, tapering machines, conveyor lines, powder coat machinery, presses, shears, cranes, welders, mechanical clutches, drive trains, and CNC Haas equipment.
• Diagnose equipment issues using blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
• Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to safely work with electrical systems ranging from 24V DC to 480V 3-phase AC.
• Install new machinery, including setting up equipment, installing electrical drops, and rewiring motors as required.
• Perform basic PLC troubleshooting, including checking inputs and outputs and supporting electrical-based diagnostics.
• Assist with more advanced PLC-related tasks when possible, including following logic and supporting troubleshooting activities.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical components such as hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, bearings, and related systems.
• Support facilities and grounds maintenance activities as needed to keep the plant and surrounding areas in good working condition.
• Work collaboratively with team members, sharing information and coordinating tasks to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Follow all safety procedures and best practices, demonstrating a strong safety mindset in every task.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications as required by plant procedures.
• Adapt to flexible start times within first shift requirements and support occasional Saturday work as needed.

Essential Skills

• At least 5+ years of industrial multi-craft maintenance experience.
• At least 5+ years of mechanical maintenance experience, including working with blueprints, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, bearings, and related components.
• At least 5+ years of electrical maintenance experience, including reading schematics, using a multimeter, installing electrical drops, and rewiring motors.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics accurately.
• Ability to safely work with electrical systems from 24V DC through 480V 3-phase AC.
• Basic PLC skills focused on checking inputs and outputs and supporting electrical-based troubleshooting.
• Strong safety mindset and commitment to following safety procedures.
• Demonstrated good character and positive attitude in a team environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with welding and fabrication is highly beneficial.
• PLC troubleshooting skills, including the ability to connect a laptop, follow logic, troubleshoot issues, and replace switches or sensors.
• PLC programming experience or exposure to programming tasks.
• Experience working with CNC Haas machines and other complex industrial equipment.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with varied machinery.
• Flexibility to adjust start times within first shift hours and support occasional Saturday work.

Work Environment

The role is based in an aluminum extrusion and fabrication facility that manufactures light poles for applications such as highways, malls, and parking lots. The facility is long, non-climate controlled, and can be loud at times, reflecting a typical heavy industrial environment. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with flexibility to start at 4:00 a.m., 5:00 a.m., or 8:00 a.m. for an eight-hour shift. The schedule may include an average of one Saturday per month. The work involves regular interaction with hydraulic equipment, extrusion lines, powder coat machinery, presses, shears, cranes, welders, mechanical clutches, drive trains, and CNC Haas machines, as well as the use of diagnostic tools such as multimeters. Employees are expected to follow appropriate industrial safety practices and wear suitable attire and personal protective equipment consistent with a manufacturing and fabrication environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $66560.00/yr.
