Associate - Environmental Services I

Overview The Environmental Services team at North Hospital is seeking a dedicated cleaning technician to support a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. You will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, offices, clinics, procedural areas, and public spaces. You will also support patient safety by consistently maintaining high‑quality cleaning services and follow infection control standards and hospital policies. Schedule Full‑Time Evening Shift (3pm-11pm) Work Location North Hospital (Onsite) Department Supported Environmental Services Primary Responsibilities Supports patient safety through consistent and high‑quality cleaning. Demonstrates the ability to clean and disinfect high‑acuity clinical and procedural areas, apply disinfection protocols, and use approved cleaning tools according to infection control standards and hospital policy. Conducts hazardous and biohazardous waste removal in compliance with safety regulations and protocols, and proactively communicates and collaborates with clinical teams to ensure cleaning processes support patient safety and care flow. Requirements No previous experience required. Must wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, and rubber‑soled closed‑toe footwear. Physical requirements include reaching, standing for long periods, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time. Ability to operate light floor equipment for cleaning floors in patient care areas. Ability to climb ladders. Ability to clean areas requiring technical cleaning such as IR/Cardiac Cath/Mother‑Baby/NICU/OR/ED. Preferred High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred. Benchmarks 3 months – Master e‑scheduling and maintain good attendance. 6 months – Independent with responsibilities assigned. 12 months – Totally independent, completing e‑learnings and job responsibilities. #J-18808-Ljbffr IU Health
