About the Role
Mind Moves is seeking a part-time finance and accounting contractor to support the financial operations of a growing government contracting firm. This contractor will own core accounting functions — from estimates and team allocation to monthly reporting, reconciliations, and tax preparation — working closely with firm leadership.
Contract will include:
- Managing Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Monthly reconciliations and tax preparation
- Monthly and quarterly financial reporting
- Developing project estimates and supporting team allocation decisions
- Profitability and resource management and reporting
- Payroll management using: Timesheets, GovBooks, Intuit Quickbooks Online and Excel
- Ad hoc financial analysis and forecasting and determine profitability for team projects
- Develop estimates for proposals at the labor category level
- Review project level budgets and forecasts
Who You Are
- Experienced accountant or controller comfortable supporting a small, fast-moving professional services firm
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and Intuit (QuickBooks online) and comfort learning GovBooks, Hour Timesheets and Gusto
- Able to work independently and communicate proactively with CEO
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Has an appetite for finance strategy and acting as a sounding board
- Familiar with government contract accounting practices (e.g., DCAA compliance, indirect rate structures) is a plus but not required
