Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical (Med/Surg)

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to patients with acute and chronic medical conditions. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes.

Requirements:

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

• Current BLS certification required.

• ACLS certification preferred or required per facility policy.

• Recent Medical Surgical or acute care nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for Medical Surgical patients.

• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments safely and accurately.

• Monitor patient condition, vital signs, and response to treatment, reporting significant changes promptly.

• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care.

• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning.

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical records.

• Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.

• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.

• Float to other units as assigned based on competency and patient care needs.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
