JOB SUMMARY: In this role, you will prepare and cook food in a hospital cafeteria while following established recipes, food safety standards, and sanitation procedures. The Cook supports the hospital dietary department by preparing quality meals efficiently and maintaining a safe, clean food service environment.

PAY/SCHEDULE/LOCATION/BENEFITS: Pay: $17.00 per hourSchedule: Full-time; rotating schedule, including rotating weekends (approximately every other weekend)Location: On-site at one of multiple hospital locations throughout the San Antonio areaBenefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid vacation, PTO/personal days, and more.

IMPORTANT SCHEDULE REQUIREMENT: The schedule is not set and may change from week to week. Employees must be flexible and available to work different shifts based on the hospital's needs. You must be able to report to work as early as 6:00 a.m. and remain available as late as 8:009:00 p.m., depending on your assigned shift. This position requires rotating weekends, approximately every other weekend.

HOSPITAL COOK CAFETERIA DUTIES: Prepare and cook cafeteria food according to recipes, menus, and established standardsMeasure, portion, and prepare ingredients to ensure consistent food qualityOperate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficientlyMonitor food temperatures and maintain proper food handling and storage proceduresMaintain clean and sanitary kitchen, preparation, and cooking areasFollow hospital food safety, sanitation, and infection-control proceduresWork with dietary staff to ensure meals and food service are prepared and served efficiently

HOSPITAL COOK CAFETERIA REQUIREMENTS: Must be authorized to work in the United StatesMust be able to reliably commute to workMust be able to successfully pass pre-employment screening requirements, including a criminal background check and urinalysis drug testPrevious cafeteria, institutional, commercial, or high-volume cooking experience requiredMust speak and read enough English to safely perform job duties and follow workplace instructionsMust be available to work a rotating schedule, including approximately every other weekendMust be available for shifts beginning as early as 6:00 a.m. and ending as late as 8:009:00 p.m.Must be able to work in a fast-paced food service environmentMust obtain or possess a National Texas Food Handler CertificateMust meet hospital immunization and health-screening requirements

HOSPITAL HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS: MMR 1st and 2nd dosesVaricella (chickenpox) 2 dosesTdap within the last 10 yearsHepatitis BFlu shot or applicable exemptionCOVID-19 vaccination is not requiredOne TB blood test or two TB skin tests within the last year
