Schedule: Mondays and Fridays, 12:30pm - 9:00pm

Job Description

The Dietary Aide assembles, customizes, and delivers patient meal trays, supports accurate menu selections based on diet orders, and ensures a clean and efficient food service operation within a hospital kitchen. This role focuses on providing courteous, timely meal service to patients, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting the Hospitality Service Office with both clerical and foodservice tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assemble tray carts of patient lunch and dinner meal trays for patient care units using patient selections and diet orders in a refrigerated environment prior to re-thermalization.
• Customize patient meal trays by adding requested drinks, desserts, rolls, and other items before delivering to patient care units.
• Set up patient food service stations on the tray line for breakfast according to tally sheets or established par levels.
• Deliver meal trays and snacks to patients on assigned units, replacing missing items and offering alternative selections for undesired items for patients on regular diets.

Essential Skills

• Experience in food preparation and foodservice, such as cooking, prep cook, line cook, or food prep roles.
• Ability to assemble and customize meal trays accurately based on patient selections and diet orders.
• Skill in setting up food service stations and working efficiently on a tray line.

Work Environment

• This role is based in a hospital kitchen and patient care units, focusing on assembling, transporting, and cleaning foodservice equipment and trays.
• You work on Mondays and Fridays from 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., spending time in refrigerated areas, on the tray line, and moving between units to deliver and collect meal trays.
• The work involves standing, walking, and handling dishes, carts, and hospitality supplies, as well as using a computer system to manage menus and reports.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, DC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
