Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This is an exciting contract opportunity for a skilled Special Education Teacher passionate about making a positive impact in students' lives. Support learners across two Special Day Class assignments for the full school year. This full-time role involves working 7.5 hours per day and collaborating with a dedicated team to deliver high-quality education to students with moderate to severe needs.
You'll first cover a classroom with 2nd and 3rd graders (6 students) from September through December, starting at 8:00 AM. For the spring term (January through the end of the school year), you'll transition to supporting middle school students (7 students) with an 8:10 AM start. Throughout the year, you’ll find strong collaboration with staff and excellent structure to help you succeed.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Extensive Support Needs Credential required
- Experience teaching in moderate-severe special education settings
- Confidence in classroom management and adapting curriculum for diverse learners
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction in structured Special Day Class settings
- Adapt lessons to meet students’ individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessional support staff, related services, and families
- Track, assess, and document student progress and program effectiveness
- Maintain a positive, engaging classroom atmosphere that fosters growth
