This position is located at Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute. Classification: Licensed Practical Nurse 3 at MTMHI. Current approved hiring rate: $4,290.00 monthly / $51,480.00 yearly. Position: On-site. Background Check: Requires a criminal background check. Qualifications Education and Experience: Currently licensed as a practical nurse and equivalent to two years of licensed practical nursing. Special Qualifications: Licensed in Tennessee or under NLC. A valid driver’s license may be required. Overview Under general supervision, is responsible for licensed practical nursing duties of average difficulty which includes leading others in work; and performs related work as required. This class is lead level in the Licensed Practical Nurse series and may be assigned to work days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends. Responsibilities Leads the application of nursing techniques required in care and treatment of patients. Advises subordinate staff in policies and procedures. Performs BLS and CPR and other emergency responses. Follows a prescribed health care plan or protocol, takes the patient's vital signs, and administers medication. Educates patients/caregivers how to maintain optimal health status and demonstrates self-care such as dressing changes, self-examinations, activities of daily living (e.g., hygiene), and proper use of adaptive equipment/devices. Documents assessments, care, and education provided to the patient. Documents orders followed, medical interventions, completed tests/results, and the administration/effectiveness of drugs. Discusses patients' comprehensive health plan with other staff to identify patient/clients’ needs and provides education to employees and others. Maintains an adequate, current, and secure inventory of health care supplies and reports discrepancies. Ensures that medical equipment and designated work areas are kept clean and serviceable, and reports maintenance problems or repairs. Communicates with internal and external entities.
