Assistant Director

Job Summary The Assistant Director, Athletics Facilities & Events assists in the planning, organization, and oversight of game operations and special events for FGCU Athletics. Job Description Typical duties include but are not limited to: Assists with the oversight of day to day operations of Athletics Facilities department. Plans, organizes, and coordinates game operations and special events at assigned facilities. Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures to ensure effective operations. Participates and/or manages setup, breakdown and processes for athletics events including but not limited to practices, competitions, meetings and special events. Assists with the coordination of preventative maintenance, cleaning, safety, organization, and repairs for assigned facilities. Collaborates with Compliance, Sports Medicine, Environmental Health & Safety, and internal athletic departments to ensure compliance with applicable NCAA, Atlantic Sun, Federal, and State rules, regulations, and laws governing areas of responsibility. Ensures all safety practices are followed according to guidelines. Assists in the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluating, and scheduling of part-time OPS and Volunteer Staff. Initiates, evaluates, and updates the Facilities and Operations training program for part time, temporary workers, and volunteers. Assists in capital improvement projects at assigned facilities. Coordinates with coaches to schedule team activities and competitions using 25Live and Teamworks. Complies with all University and ASUN Conference regulations, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations. Remains current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University, ASUN Conference rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and participation in the annual NCAA continuing education programs including passing the NCAA certification test, if applicable. Any violation of NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Other Duties Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Must be willing and available to work with all athletic teams' seasonal schedules (weekend, evening, and holiday work). Additional Job Description Required Qualifications This position requires either seven years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Sports Facilities Management, Sports Administration, Facilities Management, or a closely related field and three years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions. Professional experience in a higher education athletics department related to the position. Experience in facility supervision, facility management, athletic administration, or related field. Experience operating a personal computer and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization. Possess current Forklift Operator certification or able to obtain within 90 days of hire. Possess current American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or able to obtain within 90 days of hire.
