Job Description:

\n

Demonstrates knowledge of techniques and treatment modalities for patients of varying ages, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric. Follows best practices to reduce potential medication errors. Performs all duties and responsibilities for the assigned shift. Documents all pertinent data on the patient’s medical record after completing service. Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understanding the purpose and possible side effects of each. Demonstrates knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and equipment, remaining alert to possible side effects. Follows departmental equipment sterilization procedures. Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators, including airway management and tracheal suctioning. Performs arterial punctures to obtain blood samples for gas analysis, understanding complications and contraindications. Assesses patient needs and tolerance for treatment, reassessing responses to therapy. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly, inspecting and testing to ensure functionality. Formulates and evaluates teaching plans based on patient learning needs, including family involvement as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.\n

\n • Airway management skills, including insertion and maintenance of a patent airway [Required]
\n • Ability to provide optimal respiratory support including administration of oxygen and Heliox, administration of inhaled medications, lung expansion, and bronchial hygiene therapy [Required]
\n • Ability to appropriately initiate, operate, manage, and liberate non-invasive and invasive modes of mechanical ventilation [Required]
\n • Ability to perform ABG Puncture, analysis, arterial cannulation using sterile procedure, and hemodynamic monitoring [Required]
\n • Ventilator patient transportation [Required]
\n • Knowledge and skill to care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient in a health care delivery system [Required]
\n • Prior use of electronic medical records (EMR) [Preferred]

Education:
\n • Associate's [Required]

Field of Study:
\n • in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science

Work Experience:
\n • 1+ years experience as a respiratory therapist [Preferred]
