Location: Carrollton, TX Job Id: 2158 # of Openings: 1 Position Summary Alamon, Inc., a Montana‑based employee‑owned company since 1975, provides installation services to the utilities, energy, and communications industries nationwide. Alamon seeks a Fiber Technician Level 3 for its Network Services department. Responsibilities This position includes splicing and testing fiber spans (both ISP and OSP) under guidance of a field supervisor, cleaning and inspecting fiber, identifying out‑of‑spec splice points, re‑splicing as required, and providing timely updates. The role requires extensive travel. Fiber Characterization Tests Optical Time Domain Reflectometry (OTDR). Chromatic Dispersion (CD). Optical Return and Power Loss (using OLTS). Identify out‑of‑spec splice points and jumpers. Work with customer to fix and re‑splice. Scope and clean fibers to ensure they are clean. Fiber Splicing Loose Tube. Ribbon. Both ISP and OSP. Document Fiber Panels. Meet or exceed customer and internal documented acceptable levels of quality. Work with supervisor for scheduling and updates. Self‑supervise all operations to ensure tasks comply with customer and industry specifications. Field‑train and control/oversee the work of other technicians when necessary. Complete daily production reports, keep track of work hours. Frequently work independently. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Minimum Position Qualifications Must be willing to travel; this position requires 95% traveling. Experience with OTDR and Fusion Splice Machine. Self‑motivated. High‑quality workmanship oriented. Must be able to distinguish colors. Must pass the pre‑employment screening process (background check, drug test, motor vehicle records). Possess a current and valid driver’s license and a clean driving record with no DUI / DWIs within the past 5 years. Willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as required. Be available to work nights and weekends as required by project demands. May be subject to noise levels ranging from low to loud. Indoor and outdoor work will be based on the scope of the contract. Exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, varying noise levels, and wet or slick surfaces may be possible. When appropriate, wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with company standards and governmental regulations. This position may require working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions and terrain; may work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions. Physical Demands Physical strength, balance, hand‑eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods to travel to and from job sites. Ability to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions. Must be able to traverse all areas of the jobsite (walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, kneeling, stretching). Ability to distinctly distinguish colors, shades, brightness when working with multi‑colored cablings. Must follow written and verbal instructions, use practical judgment. Ability to work at heights, handle ladders, push and pull equipment. Travel Requirements and Benefits Extensive travel required. Lodging is provided while working and traveling for the company. Extensive understanding of hand tools, test equipment, and ability to use a computer to interface with customer products.
