Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring at least 18 months of PCU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

11-bed Progressive Care Unit within a 174-licensed-bed hospital

Patient population includes stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, cardiac cath pre/post, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, respiratory illness, GI disorders, liver failure, and AKI/CKD cases

RN to patient ratio of 1:3-4 and CNA ratio of 1:5-6

12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

No on-call requirements for travelers

Floating required as needed within Union and across Region 2 facilities (Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division) within scope of practice

No dedicated telemetry monitoring tech; nurses are responsible for reading monitors and responding

Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors

Requirements

Active RN license (NC or Compact) required

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required

Experience managing critical care drips including insulin, nitroglycerin, Cardene, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, heparin, and blood products

General PCU skillset required including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion)

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

Support team includes CNAs, HUC/receptionist, 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy for peripheral draws, IV/VAT team, resource nurse as available, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage, plus 24/7 virtual nursing support

Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays

RTO requests require Resource Team approval

Navy scrubs required

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position

First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
