Job Title: Welder Job Description

This role focuses on welding and fabricating steel components and rebar assemblies used in precast concrete form construction. You will work from blueprints and fabrication instructions to build, repair, and modify steel forms while supporting a fast-paced production schedule. The position requires strong MIG welding skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality in a construction-style production environment.

Responsibilities

• Weld steel components and rebar assemblies used in precast concrete form construction.

• Fabricate, repair, and modify steel forms according to blueprints, schematics, and fabrication instructions.

• Measure, cut, grind, and prepare materials for welding using appropriate tools and equipment.

• Inspect welds for accuracy, quality, and structural soundness, making adjustments as needed.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and facility safety standards.

• Collaborate with production teams to ensure timely completion of form sets for daily concrete pours.

• Operate hand tools, grinders, torches, and basic fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.

• Use tape measures and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure precise fabrication.

• Assist with fitting, tacking, and assembling structures to support form building and production needs.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of welding experience in a construction, fabrication, or manufacturing environment.

• Proficiency in MIG welding on mild steel components.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication instructions.

• Ability to accurately use a tape measure and other basic measuring tools.

• Experience with grinding, cutting, and preparing materials for welding.

• Familiarity with operating hand tools, grinders, torches, and basic fabrication equipment.

• Comfort working in a fast-paced production setting with daily output expectations.

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.

• Ability to work safely in outdoor and warehouse conditions while following OSHA and facility safety standards.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, structurally sound welds.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience welding rebar cages or form steel in a precast or concrete environment.

• Ability to tack, fit, and fabricate independently with minimal supervision.

• Knowledge of form building terminology and techniques.

• Stick welding experience.

• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

Work Environment

You will work in a construction-style production facility that supports precast concrete operations. The role follows a morning shift schedule, Monday through Friday, providing consistent daytime hours. Overtime opportunities may be available based on production demands. The work takes place in outdoor and warehouse conditions, where you will regularly handle steel materials, operate welding and fabrication equipment, and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50+ pounds. Safety is a priority, with adherence to OSHA and facility standards, and you will use tools such as MIG welders, grinders, torches, and measuring equipment in a fast-paced, production-focused setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
