CNC Programmer – 1st Shift

Location: Fort Wayne, IN
Shift: 1st Shift | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Monday–Friday
Pay: $25.00–$40.00/hour (Based on Experience)

Job Summary

Are you an experienced CNC Programmer with strong technical skills and a passion for precision manufacturing? We're seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our team in Fort Wayne, IN. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing, modifying, and troubleshooting CNC programs for 3-axis and 5-axis milling machines to ensure accurate and efficient production.

The ideal candidate has previous CNC programming experience, familiarity with Mastercam and GeoPath, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and make programming adjustments. You'll work closely with machine operators and engineers to maintain quality standards, improve manufacturing processes, and ensure parts meet specifications.

What You'll Be Doing

As a CNC Programmer, your core responsibilities will include:

• CNC Programming: Develop new CNC programs for production runs using 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines.

• Program Modifications: Modify existing CNC programs to accommodate different machines and production requirements.

• Blueprint Interpretation: Analyze technical drawings to determine dimensions, select appropriate cutting tools, and establish machine speeds and feed rates.

• Quality Control: Work alongside machine operators to perform quality checks and ensure finished parts meet specifications.

• Programming Adjustments: Make manual program adjustments as needed to maintain accuracy and production efficiency.

• Tooling Management: Maintain and update tooling databases to support manufacturing operations.

• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve programming or machining issues during the manufacturing process.

• Process Improvement: Collaborate with engineers to identify product modifications that may reduce material usage or fabrication time.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

• Previous experience programming 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills required.

• High school diploma or GED.

• Technical certification or associate degree preferred but not required.

• Familiarity with Mastercam and GeoPath required.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and machining specifications.

• Basic math skills.

• Ability to select cutting tools and determine appropriate machine speeds and feed rates.

• Experience modifying CNC programs and troubleshooting machining issues.

• Ability to work a consistent Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule.

Skills

• CNC Programming: Experience developing and modifying programs for 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines.

• Mastercam & GeoPath: Familiarity with computer-aided design and manufacturing programming software.

• Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, and machining specifications.

• Machining Knowledge: Understanding of cutting tools, machine speeds, feed rates, and manufacturing processes.

• Quality Control: Ability to work with machine operators to verify parts meet required specifications.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot programming and machining issues and make necessary adjustments.

• Tooling Management: Ability to maintain accurate tooling databases.

• Process Improvement: Ability to collaborate with engineering teams to identify opportunities for improved manufacturing efficiency.

• Attention to Detail: Strong focus on programming accuracy and precision manufacturing.
