This role will report directly to the Accounting Transformation Manager and will take ownership of core month-end close responsibilities while partnering on initiatives to innovate, streamline, and automate accounting workflows.The ideal candidate brings a solid accounting foundation and some hands-on close experience, works with a degree of independence on recurring responsibilities, and is comfortable leveraging modern tools — including AI and automation — to drive efficiency and accuracy across the accounting function. This is a hybrid role located at our Long Beach, CA headquarters.You Will:Month-End Close & Reconciliations Prepare and post routine and recurring journal entries to support the monthly close process.Assist with month-end close activities, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting schedules.Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items in a timely manner.Process Improvement & Automation Support the Accounting Transformation Manager in identifying opportunities to automate, standardize, and improve accounting processes.Partner on the design and implementation of AI-enabled tools, workflows, and reporting solutions to improve efficiency and data quality.Assist with maintaining and improving documentation of accounting processes and controls.Audit Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and providing supporting documentation.Collaborate cross-functionally with AP, FP&A, and other operational teams as needed.Contribute to ad hoc accounting projects and continuous improvement initiatives.You Must Have:Solid understanding of core accounting principles and U.S. GAAP concepts.Strong attention to detail with the ability to independently manage multiple tasks and deadlines.Proficiency in Excel, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis.Working knowledge of, or hands-on exposure to, automation and AI tools in an accounting context, with interest in continuing to expand those skills.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with hands-on responsibilities and minimal oversight.Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate cross-functionally.Curious, proactive mindset with a demonstrated track record of improving processes, not just executing them.Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting.3–5 years of accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of month-end close and account reconciliations.Exposure to ERP systems such as Microsoft D365 a plus.CPA eligibility or intent to pursue CPA is a plus, but not required.A reasonable salary estimate for this role based on experience, education, and geographic location is: $75,000-$95,000CarParts.com is an equal-opportunity employer.
