The range may not necessarily include all additional compensation elements available, such as differentials, incentive programs and benefits.Provides direct and in-direct patient care under direction of office leadership. Performs duties such as routine intake of patients which includes taking vital signs, performing point of care testing as appropriate and assuring patients understand their discharge instructions. May also be required to transport patients. They will also be required to answer phone messages, propose orders per the JPP and assure providers are made aware when there are outstanding tasks on their desktops/message center that they must complete.ResponsibilitiesCommunicates and interacts with patients and families, physicians, peers and other health care members to maximize successful customer outcomes and maximize function of the unit.Orients patient to hospital environment and routine.Attends and serves on one-unit committee or educational peer opportunity to improve quality and/or engagement.Documents all aspects of patient care in a timely manner.Participates in unit quality improvement initiatives.Provides care in accordance with the patient's plan of care.Label and Delivers specimens per policy.Maintains a safe environment complying with policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.May perform other duties upon request.Other InformationEducation and Experience:BLS certification kept current.Practicing as a MA for a minimum of 4 years within the organization (required to apply for MA III status).Employed for a minimum of 1 year as a MA II within the organization.Current registration/certification.Practice Manager approval for advancement.In good standing regarding attendance.Have obtained a minimum of a "Meets" on their most recent performance evaluation.Not have any form of corrective action in the last 12 months.Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrate system values and integrates them into daily practice.Actively support patient-centered care with sensitivity and respect for the diversity of human experience.Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere.Basic ability to use and navigate NLH employee applications, such as to review pay statements, record timekeeping and to send and receive emails.Ability to provide age-appropriate care.Ability to be adaptable to a fast-paced ever-changing environment.Skilled in exemplary customer service skills and demonstrate consistent use of Caring Behaviors.Ability to communicate well with all members of the healthcare team.Ability to work closely under the direction of a Registered Nurse.Ongoing verification of level of practice as evidenced by the completion of the Medical Assistant Clinical Ladder Verification Tool.Submission of the Verification Tool at the time of their annual evaluation to maintain their current status.Competencies and SkillsBehaves with Integrity and Builds Trust: Acts consistently in line with the core values, commitments and rules of conduct.
