RN Infusion Oncology

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse for the SMH Level 2 Outpatient Infusion role provides specialized nursing care in a community-based oncology practice. This position involves managing hematology, oncology, monoclonal antibody, and non-oncology infusions for up to 24 patients daily, with a typical assignment of 8 patients. Key responsibilities include chemotherapy teaching at the chairside, skilled IV and port access, and collaborating closely with the oncology care team. The role requires strong independent judgment, excellent communication skills, and recent infusion experience. Responsibilities:

• Administer hematology/oncology and non-oncology infusions, including chemotherapy and monoclonal antibodies.
• Provide chemotherapy teaching and education to patients at the chairside.
• Manage a full patient assignment independently with minimal supervision.
• Perform IV/vascular and port access procedures with proficiency.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, LPNs, and other team members.
• Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and patient management.
• Operate Alaris infusion pumps accurately and safely.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort during infusion treatments.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• 2 3 years of recent infusion nursing experience.
• Current, unencumbered New York State Registered Nurse licensure.
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) chemotherapy/immunotherapy certification.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
• Proficiency with Alaris infusion pump technology.
• Strong IV, vascular access, and port access skills.
• Excellent communication and patient education skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Outpatient clinic experience in oncology or infusion services.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary oncology team environment.

Special Considerations:

• No weekend or holiday shifts required.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Work setting is a community-based oncology infusion clinic affiliated with a nationally recognized cancer center.

Scheduling:

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
