\n \nThe Perioperative RN assesses outpatient needs and plans, organizes, performs and evaluates nursing activities to meet those needs.

\nThis role is a full-time, 40 hours weekly, union position. Shifts will be 8 hours with alternating start times between 6:00 am and 11:00 a.m.; scheduling will be based on unit scheduling needs.
\n \nThis position will rotate between Pre-Op/PACU and Post-Op.
\n \nPrevious telemetry and/or PCU, ICU experience is preferred

Job Duties:
\n- \n
- Receives status report on patient from appropriate personnel. \n
- Receives and identifies patient. \n
- Performs initial nursing assessment and scoring of patient. \n
- Performs ongoing assessment and reports and records manifestation of patient's condition. \n
- Monitors and records vital signs and reports changes. \n
- Observes monitoring devices and reports changes. \n
- Reviews medical record for postoperative orders and institutes appropriate treatments. \n
- Administers medications according to physician orders. \n
- Performs discharge scoring and prepares patient for discharge in according with discharge criteria. \n
- Provides patient education to patient and family members and documents on nursing record. \n
- Assists the patient with nourishment. \n
- Involves ancillary support services as indicated. \n
- Contacts patient and significant other postoperatively to evaluate his and her progress and provide follow-up referral as necessary. \n
- General Assists in evaluating the quality of patient care and participates in quality improvement activities. \n
- Communicates with family as needed to allay patient and family concerns. \n
- Continually demonstrates a commitment to professional excellence through participating in meetings, committee memberships and the pursuit of continuing education. \n
- Orders supplies as needed. \n
- Maintain compliance with safety and preventative maintenance activities for all medical and technical advanced equipment to minimize failures and unsafe conditions. \n
- Assists with orientation, in-service programs and the supervising of students. \n
