Marketing Communications Intern - Part-Time Opportunity to work at a mission-driven certified B Corp that is committed to leading the change by using business as a force for good $16/hour, up to 20 hours per week 3 month internship with potential for extension Opportunity to bring your passion for sustainability and clean energy to work At Southern Energy, we help North Carolina homeowners and businesses run on sunshine and smarter buildings and we're looking for a part-time Marketing Communications Intern to help us tell that story. You'll partner with our building science and solar energy teams to create content that teaches, inspires, and gets people excited about sustainable solutions. What You'll Be Doing Transforming technical solar and building science principles into engaging, educational content Sharing the energy and passion of our team on social media, in newsletters, and blogs Improve our social media presence to build a superfan base Capture video and photos that tell our story and support our mission to improve how the world makes and uses energy Must-Haves Proficient in Google workspace tools and creating content on Instagram, Facebook, & LinkedIn Solid grasp of marketing fundamentals and how to build a simple marketing strategy Clear communicator with sharp editing skills Practical experience using social platforms to grow an audience or drive engagement Photography, social video editing, or graphic design skills are a plus! Bonus points for Canva, Hootsuite, and Hubspot familiarity Who We're Looking For You have a passion to learn and "seek solutions" when presented with challenges You're a natural collaborator who takes feedback in stride and turns it into action You thrive in a busy, high-energy team, but you've got the drive to own your work and run with it You're curious about new marketing strategies and have a pulse on the latest digital trends You're energized by using social media to connect communities and champion sustainability You're an animal lover who may have a pair of Blundstones for hiking and onsite visits with our crews (Note: we are a dog friendly office!) What You'll Learn and Achieve The scoop on solar power, sustainable building, and working at a Certified B Corp! How a marketing strategy comes together to grow an audience that drives engagement Experience creating a variety of content with tangible work to add to your marketing portfolio Practical skills to support your professional journey like managing projects in Asana, owning tasks and their outcomes, and interpreting feedback from a marketing lens Build confidence in developing marketing strategies for B2B and B2C audiences and communicating with a variety of teams AI Use Within This Role AI use is reserved for high-impact applications that support the growth of solar & energy efficiency Your creativity and experience will take center stage in developing authentic content, with AI as a sidekick, not the lead Best practices for ethical and sustainable AI use will be shared, with clear guidelines around transparent AI use in a collaborative setting You'll learn what responsible AI use looks like in practice for a B Corp, from selecting tools to developing company policies, and measuring, monitoring, and offsetting impact.
