American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with 2+ years of Neuro case experience for a Level III Trauma Center OR position.

Details:

• Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with 636 beds and 21 OR beds
• Surgery Room unit with 1:1 patient ratio
• 8-hour day shift with variable start times between 0530-0700
• Cross-trained to float within General Main OR specialty and Urology center, no floating to other hospitals or sites
• On-call requirements with 30-minute response time on an 8-week rotating schedule including EOS, evening, and overnight call slots
• Weekend call rotation of 1-2 weekends per 8-week schedule (24-hour Saturday/Sunday coverage)
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris, and Pyxis systems
• Utilizes Medtronic, Medtronic Stealth, Stryker, and Synaptive navigation systems
• Hanna Table used for orthopedic procedures

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Neuro surgical cases required
• BLS certification required
• License required if applicable
• Strong background in Neuro cases including Crani, EVD, and Spine procedures required
• Experience with spine surgeries including laminectomies, ALIFs, fusions, and discectomies
• Experience with cranial surgeries including tumors, VP shunts, subdural, and EVDs
• ENT experience including neck dissections with flaps, sinus surgery, tonsillectomies, and tympanoplasty preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information:

• Perform surgical technologist duties across Neuro/ENT, Orthopedic, and General surgical specialties
• Support cranial and spine navigation procedures using Medtronic, Stryker, and Synaptive systems
• Assist with orthopedic procedures including fractures, anterior hips, total joints, and hand/podiatry cases
• Support general surgical cases including breast/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, oncology, GU, GYN, and robotic (Xi) procedures
• Agency staff are not typically trained on robotic surgery unless they have a strong background and an extended contract
• Unit support includes Charge Nurse, Leads, Supervisors, and Manager
• Orientation is 1 to 1.5 weeks depending on team and shift assignment
• Holiday weeks may be worked as four 10-hour shifts or unpaid time off may be requested
• Hospital provides surgical scrubs; scrub caps must be covered by a surgical bouffant
• Free parking and shuttle service available on campus
• Not recommended for first-time travelers; further approval from hiring supervisor required for consideration
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
• No radius rules apply; local candidates accepted at the same rate
