Retail Supervisor

The Retail Supervisor plays a key role in delivering an exceptional Butter Pecan Bakeshop experience by leading daily store operations, supporting team members, and ensuring high standards for product quality and customer service. This hands-on position combines leadership, baking, and operational responsibilities to help drive a positive experience for both customers and employees.

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending on experience

Expected Hours: 30+ hours per week (Full-time)

Schedule: Varies based on business needs and includes opening, closing, weekend, and holiday shifts. Additional hours may be required during peak seasons, staffing shortages, call-outs, or other operational needs.

The Retail Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of a Butter Pecan Bakeshop retail location. This hands-on leadership role oversees customer service, in-store baking, product quality, team performance, and overall store execution. The Retail Supervisor works the majority of weekly shifts and plays a key role in maintaining a clean, efficient, and customer-focused environment while ensuring high operational standards.

The ideal candidate is dependable, trustworthy, organized, proactive, and passionate about creating exceptional customer experiences. They lead by example, coach team members effectively, and take ownership of store performance while supporting a positive and collaborative workplace culture.

Retail Supervisors operate within a team-based leadership model. While assigned to a primary store location, Supervisors may occasionally provide support at other company locations to ensure consistent operations and service standards throughout the organization.

Responsibilities include opening and/or closing the retail location for the majority of scheduled shifts, leading daily store operations and ensuring smooth service throughout each shift, supervising retail team members, assigning workstations, managing breaks, and maintaining appropriate staffing coverage, maintaining operational efficiency while delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring retail displays are fully stocked, visually appealing, and aligned with company standards, resolving routine customer concerns professionally and escalating significant issues when necessary, maintaining a clean, organized, and customer-ready environment, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and service standards, performing in-store baking using established procedures, and equipment, ensuring all products meet company standards for quality, consistency, freshness, and appearance, training and coaching team members on baking, preparation, finishing, and product handling procedures, monitoring baking schedules, oven temperatures, product rotation, and food safety practices, managing production levels to maintain product availability while minimizing waste, ensuring proper storage, handling, and labeling of products and ingredients, assisting with recruiting, onboarding, and training retail team members, reinforcing company service standards, operating procedures, dress code requirements, and performance expectations, creating, publishing, and adjusting employee schedules, providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and accountability in a professional and respectful manner, promoting teamwork, communication, and a positive workplace culture, fostering collaboration between retail and other company departments, monitoring inventory levels and communicating product and supply needs proactively, completing daily cash handling responsibilities, including drawer counts, reconciliations, and deposits, preparing and transporting bank deposits using company-approved procedures, ensuring proper FIFO inventory rotation and storage practices, maintaining required operational logs, records, and reports accurately and on time, maintaining compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements, identifying and reporting maintenance, equipment, or safety concerns promptly, ensuring compliance with health department regulations and company policies, collaborating with other Retail Supervisors as part of a regional team-based support model, providing leadership coverage during vacations, staffing shortages, special events, training periods, or emergency situations, occasionally working shifts at another company location when business needs require, assisting with coordinating support staff between locations to maintain operational consistency and service standards, adhering to all Butter Pecan Bakeshop policies, procedures, and safety requirements, maintaining a professional appearance in accordance with the company Dress Code Policy, and performing other duties as assigned.

Direct supervision of retail team members, responsible for coaching, training, performance feedback, and shift-level accountability.

This position operates in a retail bakery environment and involves exposure to heat from ovens, cold storage environments, and frequent interaction with customers. The role requires regular use of bakery equipment, POS systems, and computer-based tools.

Stand and walk for extended periods, frequently bend, reach, lift, and carry products and supplies, lift and move up to 50 pounds, operate bakery equipment, POS systems, and other retail tools.

Minimal travel required. Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel between company locations for operational support, training, meetings, bank deposits, or coverage as needed.

High School Diploma or equivalent required, minimum two years of experience in a retail, food service, hospitality, lead or supervisory role required, baking experience required; professional bakery or in-store baking experience preferred, ability to speak, read, and write in English.

Must be at least 18 years of age, current California Food Manager Certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire, must be willing to sign and comply with company confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements to protect proprietary recipes, operational procedures, business and customer information, and other confidential company materials.
